The Glenelg SLSC offers all members professional training squads. These squads are filled with people that have achieved great amounts of individual success, and have joined others to achieve in team events. Our squads hold members that have gone on to compete and win medals at the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships.

All members that desire to train within training squads are encouraged and looked after. Quality equipment and well prepared sessions are provided to assist the learning and development progress. A coach oversees every session and will provide technique assistance if required.

We also extend our sincere thanks to Clive Thomas CEO of CT Freight who continues to sponsor us. Without the generosity of gentlemen such as Clive, this club's surfboat section would not be as strong as it is today.

To begin each season we always field a team in the Outback Surfboat Carnival, Pt. Augusta. In a carnival of surfboat rowing, swimming, tug-of-war and team bonding, Glenelg SLSC had the strongest representation ever. We had 50 competitors- divided into 7 boat crews, 35 swimmers and 5 tug-of-war teams. Every team fielded won Glenelg Boat Section valuable prize money for the season ahead.

Interstate trips to compete in the Manly and Freshwater Australia Day Carnival, NSW, Lorne, VIC, and in Bouwlee, NSW. The Navy Series team representatives have been able to experience the surf culture of the East Coast and gain valuable racing and big wave experience.

The mateship one gains from being a surf lifesaver and a competitor is totally invaluable. This being one of the most important facets of being a surf boat rower. Winter training is focussed on strength work but squads are rowing at least once a week and indeed we look to be fielding some teams in the 'Murray 100'.
