Youth Development – GSLSC Young Guns
Glenelg Surf Life Saving Club is excited to continue the successful 'Youth Development' program, now in its fifth year.
The program is designed to facilitate Under 14 to 18 members in the transition from Nippers into Senior activities. It combines;
- social activities
- completions of their Surf Rescue Certificate training (generally at under 14s or 15s level) This is conducted under the guidance of Young Guns coordinators and club instructors/assessors.
- training and competition opportunities. A tailored training program will provide opportunities to learn new surf skills such as ski paddling, Mal boards, and Reel Rescue as well as provide time to refine team event skills such as Board Rescue, Taplin, etc.
- The implementation this season of the National Youth Involvement Program will go beyond surf sports and enable Young Guns to develop pathways and skills across all aspects of club operations.
Young Guns are encouraged to be role models for the younger age groups and take on leadership duties within the club.
A lot of exciting activities and adventures to come from this development squad including...Youth Camp, Wave Days, 'Saturday Sessions', Surf Camp and Go-Kart Racing!
