About Us

The Glenelg Surf Life Saving Club was announced as the 2007 and 2008 SA Club of the Year

Glenelg SLSC is now located in it's new facility overlooking Glenelg beach.  We're on the former site of Magic Mountain, next to the Beach House entertainment complex.  We were voted 2007 SA Surf Club of the year, and finished 2nd in the Australian awards.

Club membership is always growing and is at an all time high of 699 members.  Many of which are from the local and surrounding areas, but also from as far away as Pt Elliot.  In season 2008/09 the club trained a state record number of new bronze holders, now is a great time to get involved and be part of the exciting times ahead.  Our social member base is growing rapidly since we moved into the new club, get on board.

According to visitor statistics, Glenelg beach is the most popular in South Australia.  New members are sought after and always made to feel welcome. The club offers a wide range of activities. Whether a competitor at heart or someone who enjoys spending time with friends soaking up the beach atmosphere, Glenelg SLSC is just what you are looking for.  Consider training to become a qualified Surf Life Saver (see Bronze FAQ), it's the best way to meet existing club people and make new friends, you also learn valuable life skills.

Glenelg SLSC also has a social/supporters branch which runs in conjunction with the patrolling and competitive side of the club. This section of the club is a great way for members to socialise together, often in conjunction with the local community.

Come down and have a drink in the new club, non-members welcome.

The club is a former State Champion club, having won three State Championships in a row (1999, 2000 & 2001). We possess a large competitor base with many competitors having gone on to compete at national and international level.  We also have many patrolling members which means that patrolling at Glenelg works out to approximately 18 hours a year per member.
